Katholiki Restaurant

We visited Taverna Katholiki in Afandou during our holiday in Rhodes – and we ended up going there twice, which says it all! The food was absolutely delicious! We especially loved the grilled chops – juicy, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. They were served with homemade sides, and everything tasted amazing. It was a true taste of Greece. The service was wonderful – very friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. The staff made us feel welcome and taken care of, like we were at home. The taverna has a warm, traditional atmosphere and serves excellent food. If you’re in Afandou, this place is a must-visit – a great experience all around!

Just so delicious and the price was fantastic, such a nice atmosphere with families gathering together for lunch/dinner. Not far from the beach which is unspoiled and so clear to swim in! Highly recommend this place for delicious Greek food.

The waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful in choosing the right bites. He pointed out the best options and recommended smaller portions when appropriate. We had dinner on a Friday night and managed to get the last table. Understandably, there was a small queue afterwards, as the dishes were absolutely excellent. A cosy terrace with the gentle murmur of locals and tourists, friendly waiters, and delicious food. If you get the chance, have a quick peek inside the small 10th-century church next to the terrace. An absolute recommendation.

We had a delicious meal here. We let Alex order for us and we were not disappointed! He created a mixed menu for one vegetarian and one meat eater and we both loved it. Would highly recommend this restaurant. The aubergine was delicious.

Proper, honest.... Good portions, exceptional quality, tasty food! First time in Rhodes since 2016. Hasn't changed... Still good Greek food. Prices have gone up, but probably the only place this far that was worth the price increase... A family of 7 ....we really enjoyed it... will go back before we leave.

Our first visit to Katholiki we had the set menu I can thoroughly recommend this choice. Alex was our server and he was brilliant, he new exactly what we wanted he new the menu what was cooked that day and what would go with what. The food was so good we went back again and Alex told us to have the beef stifado and stuffed peppers. The restaurant has a small playground for the kids and is next to a small church hence the name. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant and ask for Alex he will help you.

Katholiki Restaurant has been the best we’ve visited on Rhodes so far. The ambiance is beautiful, the food absolutely amazing, and the waitstaff (especially Alex) just lovely. They’re not only great at serving – they even have solid advice when it comes to women. The cuisine is traditional, the prices are on the lower end, and the taste is still excellent. Overall, an absolute must-visit in the area.

This is a great restaurant where you see a bit more locals than in the regular tourist locations. We took a cucumber and tomato salad because the greek salad was literally huge and we would not have fit much else in for the two of us. Also had fried eggplant wit some tomato crush with a hint of garlic - really great stuff and I wanto try this at home. And of course lamb chops is something they know how to cook in Greece :) In the beginning we got also some complimentary grilled bread and to finish some ice cream. We went there for a second night and took a greek salad and a kilo of pork belly. NB! Unlike lamb chops etc there are no bones to discount the meat quantity so this would better fit a party of four. Both were delicious but we seriously over ate this time.
